We,
Japanese Artists
Association
of New York,
Inc. (JAA),were
established
in 1973 to be
a group to support
Japanese and
Japanese-American
artists, with
the added intent
of providing
a connection
between the
art worlds of
the United States
and Japan. Our
goal is to create
a better community
through our
art.
Throughout
these 36 years,
we have been
the base for
Japanese visual
artists. We
have acted as
a catalyst for
artists in the
greater New
York metropolitan
area. One of
our main activities
is the annual
JAA show, which
has been favorably
received for
the last three
decades. We
also host seminars
on various topics
during which
we invite the
guest speakers
to conduct lectures
about different
aspects of the
arts. Through
our activity,
we are increasing
knowledge and
understanding
of visual arts
and artists
across cultures.
As an artist organization,
we believe that art is the best means to nurture our two cultures.
We think that combining our rich Japanese heritage and that
of our new homeland will help us realize a better society
through our thoughtful effort.
